Origin of Carcasona

This lineage hails from France, and had its solar house in the city of Carcassonne (whose name it took).

Mosen Jaime Febrer quotes in his Trovas: «On a field of gold a small bird, painted green and red, was the motto of Bernart Carcassonne, who, being a native of the city of this name, came from there to conquer, taking his last name; he arrived at the time that King Don Jaime had won the castle of El Puig, but assisted him in that of Valencia, where he received the prizes. You must attend to his daughter, and ensure that no one offends her, in attention to the merits of his father."

Garma y Durán affirms that a line of this surname had a house in the city of Lleida.

Another house resided in the city of Manresa (Barcelona), its owner Mestre Carcassona, documented in the Catalan Foguerción of 1553.
